After reading the first couple of chapters I have only noticed a couple of characters that seem to play a role in the novel.
1. Joseph K. - I agree with Shelby that he obviously seems to be the protagonist as shown in his role of the main character. We know he is the Chief clerk at a bank and that he is successful. We also know that he did have an intimate night with Fraulein Burstner.
2. Frauline Burstner- This women seems to live in the same house as K. and we know that she is learning law and that she kissed K. in an awkward way.
3.Assitant manager- Plays the small role when he seems to "suck up" to K. because he has a higher position at the bank.
4. The Court System- These people have been described in my interpretation as a cult. They seem like they are involved in a much bigger picture with K. and every action that is played out now in the beggining of the novel is going to have importance later.
